The Most Effective NLP Copywriting Technique, Part 2

Happy Friday!

Last time we looked at what I’ve come to consider the most effective NLP copywriting technique: pacing.

Today, we’re going to talk about the second half of the equation: leading.

Because pacing without leading is kind of like peanut butter without jelly. Adam without Eve. It will accomplish a few things on it’s own, but to really get the job done you need that second half. Read more

The Most Effective NLP Copywriting Technique

I have a confession to make: Before attending Harlan Kilsteins NLP Copywriting seminar last September, I really didn’t know much about NLP. I’d heard of it, had an idea of what it was about, but that was it.

Well, Harlan is a top-notch teacher. Over the course of three days, I rubbed shoulders with the likes of David Deutch, Paris Lampropulous, David Garfinkle, and other A-listers as we all learned exactly how to use NLP copywriting techniques to skyrocket response.

Over the months that followed, I’ve had the opportunity to use what I’ve learned and gauge it’s effectiveness. And one technique in particular has proven to be so effective, it’s become the bedrock of every piece of copy I write: Read more

Autoresponders That Get Read And Drive Sales

Autoresponders are a crucial part of your Internet Marketing arsenal. For direct-response websites, they’re usually what gives prospects the 4 - 7 exposures they need to feel comfortable buying from you.

Nearly every website you visit will have some sort of opt-in form for building a mailing list. That’s because the emails sent to those who opt in can be so effective at increasing sales.

But as with all good internet marketing strategies, the glut of AR’s has made it much more difficult to use them effectively. And it’s made the emails much easier to ignore in your prospect’s inbox.

So how do you create an email series that gets opened, gets read and drives sales? Read more

Well, it’s not the most technically flawless production, but here is my latest video. OK, it’s actually my first attempt at video editing with Windows Movie Maker. I’m sure you’ll notice.

But the information is good, if I do say so myself. 3 steps to making internet marketing profits during the recession.

I’d love to hear what you think — of the info, as well as the production. Does the url bug you? I’m trying to decide whether to leave that out of future videos.

Without further ado, here it is: Internet Marketing Profits During The Recession. Enjoy!

Is Social Media Marketing A Waste Of Time?

Posted on March 28, 2008

Clayton Makepeace is one of my all time favorite gurus. He knows his stuff, has gotten where he is by actually writing copy that raked in gajillions for clients and himself.

And he has chosen to live in the most beautiful place on earth, my hometown in Western North Carolina.

But yesterday, he ran this blog post by guest contributor Patrick Coffey of ETR. Coffey claims that he and the folks over at ETR have been experimenting with social bookmarking sites like Digg and Stumbleupon, and have found them to be a waste of time.

Apparently, they had an article reach the front page of Digg, which landed them 28,000 first time visitors, only 80 of which became subscribers. This low conversion rate led Patrick to his claim that SMM was a waste, and that paying for targeted traffic is the only way to go. Read more

Starbucks Does A Social Media Campaign Right

Posted on March 27, 2008

My husband came in late last night, very sweetly carrying a cup of my favorite Starbucks coffee.

On the side of the cup was printed “The Way I See It #289″, a quote about global warming. It was mildly controversial — very mild compared to some of the other examples I’ve seen — but a great conversation starter nonetheless.

At the bottom of the quote is a web address where you can read more quotes and respond.

DH and I have a hobby of analyzing advertising and promotional efforts, and both of us gave this one the thumbs up. What I loved about it was the way it engages you without any overt marketing message. There was very little (if any) added expense for Starbucks — they have to put something on the cup, after all — yet anyone who visits the website and responds to the quote will be that much more engaged with the whole Starbucks experience. Tent City Is A Load Of Fearmongering Crap

Posted on March 25, 2008

First, watch this terrifying video from the BBC:

Now tell me: are you scared? According to the BBC, it’s the dustbowl days all over again. It’s just a matter of time before we’re all living in tents begging for food!

Why on earth would any business even tryto sell anything in this economy? Can’t you see we’re all going to hell in a handbasket?

Even my own Mother (known for spouting exactly what the media has planted into her brain as absolute fact) told me this weekend that there was no point in marketing right now because “everybody’s broke.”

(Never mind the fact that she just left with my 2 kids for an entire week at the beach. She’s certainly not broke — and neither is anyone else she knows.)

But I’m getting ahead of myself. The point is, there has been bad financial news for a while now. We’re constantly hearing the word “crisis” in regards to the economy. So when you see a report like the one above, it’s real easy to think you might just need to live off savings for a while and forget trying to grow your business.

Problem is, it’s all a load of crap. Read more

Social Media Marketing Resources

Today’s Wall Street Journal online has a great article on Social Media Marketing.

It’s aimed at bigger corporations, as have been most of the articles the WSJ has done on the subject. But just the fact that such an “old media” bastion is paying attention shows the relevance of the medium.

If you don’t have a Social Media Marketing strategy in place, you’d better get one fast. Read more

How To Market During A Recession

Posted on March 14, 2008
Filed Under Recession | Leave a Comment

OK, the news today isn’t good. Even President Bush is now admiting that we’re facing “tough times.”

What we have to ask ourselves now is, “What are we going to do about it?”

More importantly, how should we handle our marketing? Well, first of all, I’m not of the school that says to cut back. It makes no sense to tuck your tail between your legs and cower when — if you handle it right — this recession could be one of the greatest opportunities your business has ever seen. Read more

Of Recessions and Internet Marketing

Posted on March 14, 2008
Filed Under Recession | Leave a Comment

Welcome to the very first post of my brand new Internet Marketing Blog!

We’re going to talk about all things related to making money online. And one of the biggest areas of interest is going to be how to continue growing your business during a bad economy. Whether you want to call it a “recession” or not really doesn’t matter. The point is that times are going to be tough for a while, and you’ll need solid strategies if you’re going to keep increasing profits.

Yep, that’s right — you don’t need to just batten down the hatches and “survive.” If you have the guts to ignore some of the “conventional wisdom” and actually ratchet up your smart marketing efforts (as opposed to the dumb ones that are a waste of money) you could actually find yourself at the very top of your niche by the time things get turned around.
